The ancestor of today's collection, the Eusebia Dorrida Bahá’í Memorial Library, was established in December 1975 in Bel Air, Maryland. Mrs. Dorrida, who died in 1948, had been one of the first members of the Baltimore Bahá'í community, having declared her faith in Bahá'u'lláh prior to 1910. Her son, Albert "Bill" Dorrida, upon his death in 1972 bequeathed his personal library, containing many books originally belonging to his mother, to the Local Spiritual Assembly of Baltimore County. As the Bahá'í population of the county grew, the National Assembly directed that it be divided into several distinct communities. Following this division, the Library became the property of the Local Spiritual Assembly of Baltimore County Central. In 1999, the LSA appointed Kathleen Lehman to catalogue the collection and ready it for circulation. The Library officially reopened as the Dorrida Bahá’í Library in January 2000.

The Library is currently housed at the home of the Secretary of the Assembly. All members of the local Bahá'í community are welcome to borrow from the Library. The Library is also willing to make interlibrary loans to nearby Local Spiritual Assemblies and to public, school, and academic libraries. With the exception of some non-circulating items of historic or archival value, materials may be checked out for three weeks and renewed once for the same period of time. Materials may also be reserved. Please direct any reference questions you might have to our .
